Discover the beautiful backroads of Ålesund.
This bicycle route takes you on a roundtrip from Ålesund, and includes a passenger boat the last (or first) leg. Most roads are quiet, with some shorter exceptions. All is paved and there are no big heights to climb. The route on land is 85,5 km.
Along the route you will pass some beautiful old arched bridges, move in a quiet rural farmland on the north coast, and a you can spot new ships being built as you pass a couple of shipyards. You will get views towards mountains, across fjords and into the open sea.
Have a lunch and a coffee in the village Brattvåg, or get your pastries from the bakery in Søvik. There will be supermarkets and gas-stations along the way. Hotels are found along the route in Brattvåg and Søvik. They can be booked even in the low season, due to low capacity to host the workforce in the local industries. So if you need a place to sleep, book in advance.
This trip is good for spring, summer and autumn, but can also be done in wintertime if the weather is mild. This is a trip worthwhile. — View in full at http://ridewithgps.com/routes/31660920
